Six Senses in Technology
How Awesome is this! Perhaps not the best way to pick up people.. but doubly impressive if you can draw a watch on your hand and tell the time.
Personal Fudge Factoring : Sweaters make cheaters!

Abstract :
Ariely has long been fascinated with how emotional states, moral codes and peer pressure affect our ability to make rational and often extremely important decisions in our daily lives -- across a spectrum of our interests, from economic choices (how should I invest?) to personal (who should I marry?). At Duke, he's aligned with three departments (business, economics and cognitive neuroscience); he's also a visiting professor in MIT's Program in Media Arts and Sciences and a founding member of the Center for Advanced Hindsight. His hope that studying and understanding the decision-making process can help people lead better, more sensible daily lives.
I am a huge fan of TED.com, and here is a guy who.. intrigued me to say the least with his experiments on pain, and personal fudge factoring.
Towards the end though he did state something that caught me off guard..
Can intuition be systematic??????

The Arrivals

I've been bugged to watch this series on youtube/ thewakeuproject.com for sometime. In between work, I've had the chance to comb through some of the videos posted by the group.
The series examine the media's manipulation and influence on us through using the Quran as a platform to proove that there are a group of people out there who are yelding society to their own way of thinking. No surprises there. Check out PBS, "The Persuaders" as a reference.
Personally, I feel that the investigation of the ideas is a bit too shallow and amateur. A few points to consider:
1/ Lack of media literacy
2/ Contact watchdogs in Industry
At best, it's a rough draft and the makers need to do a lot more than bring footage together. If "The 99" can make it then perhaps this has a chance at becoming something huge.
Great points highlight that Disney is Satan alongside it's byproducts, Britney and Christina Aguilera.

Siggi Does It Best

Cringe-ingly, 80's Geometry is making a come back and with the puff sleeves this season, graphics from that era are finding its way into advertising. Despite my hate for recycled trends there is one guy who seems to put it together well.
I Day Dream With Monsters

And I've always imagined them to be as refined and strange as Travis Louie's portraits. You can almost hear Uncle Victor (above) speak. His early childhood was spent making drawings and watching “Atomic Age” Sci-Fi and Horror movies. There were many Saturday afternoon trips to the local comics shop and noon matinees at the RKO, explaining the look and feel of his paintings.

One Good One Bad

Having an eraser for a USB.... not such a great idea. Being a designer, this would be the ultimate useless purchase.

How awesome is this! Cutters rejoice, many sharp surfaces to de-stress yourself during those long working hours. Its got a stapler, a business card holder, letter opener, perforation and a memo holder.
Adidas Sponsors Pee

Its hilarious, " Katy Perry Gets Peed on -Literally" Sponsored by Adidas.
This is no joke. I was reading Perez when I noticed that on top of Katy Perry's story was an active link to Adidas. The company featured the singer in their My Adidas lifestyle photo shoot. So whenever the Perez dishes about her, they get a link to their merch.
Marketing's final fronteir, or rather dereiere

C'est Vraiment Genial

Julien Breton takes Arabic calligraphy to the next level using a few flash lights. . None of the photos are retouched by photoshop. His method is simple, keeps the camera on long exposure and choreographs his way through each letter by spending 30 seconds or more on each character before moving on to the next. Fou!!
The Other Body

Otherbody.com is an interesting research based curating project about how dressed bodies transform from the street to the gallery.
